Jennifer Lopez' Biography

Jennifer Lopez was born in New York City, on July 24th, 1970. The daughter of David, a computer programmer, and Guadalupe, a kindergarten teacher, the young Lopez always dreamed of becoming a performer.

With talents in singing and dancing, Jennifer started to perform in stage musicals, dancing in a European tour of Golden Musicals of Broadway, a Japanese tour of Synchronicity and local productions of Oklahoma and Jesus Christ Superstar.

She was headed to audition for the tv show In Living Color, that was being held by the choreographer Rosie Perez. She was chosen from 2,000 other hopefuls and was given the role of Fly Girl. The role that opened doors of popularity for her was when she played Selena where she got the chance to show her talent as an actress, dancer and singer.

Jennifer Lopez, the multi-talented superstar, actress and singer, who hails from New York City's Castle Hill section of the Bronx, has busted onto the scene in a manner that has left a lot of folks speechless. Getting her break when she was chosen to play the lead role in Selena , the 1997 big screen biopic of the slain Tejano singer, Lopez earned more film credits in the 1997 summer thriller Anaconda, Oliver Stone's U Turn, Jack , with George Clooney in Out of Sight and The Cell . Recently she finished filming The Wedding Planner with Matthew McConaughey which is due in theatres in February.

She will be premiering her new single "Love Don't Cost A Thing" from her upcoming album JLO at the MTV Europe Awards. Almost as well known for her fashion sense and her relationship with Combs as she is for all of her accomplishments, Lopez was presented with the 2000 Versace Award at this year's VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards. The award was "given to the person who best continues to represent the energy, creativity, and daring" that the late designer represented. With a new album and movie due out in the New Year, we can expect that Lopez is well underway to an outstanding career.

Named Female Entertainer of the Year by ALMA in 2000, this was only a sign of things to come for the Puerto Rican beauty, who has also become a spokesperson for L'Oreal, along with Jessica Alba.

To the chagrin of men worldwide (and P. Diddy), the screen and music queen wed Cris Judd on September 29, 2001, after less than an 8-month romance.
